Time To Get Back On Track

OK after Eyemouth triathlon last year I went completely off the grid. This little post is just a wee update to myself.

Currently just under the 14st mark which I'm happy with having made no effort.

Not cycled since September.

This week I have ran 3 x 5km to see where I'm at. And struggled :S
BUT the 3rd effort I took a bit easier (a min slower) and dropped 20bpm off my average from the first 2 runs, and felt smoother.

Ordered and received a Swimovate Poolmate Pro. Set it up, but not ready to test out.

Have had a nagging shoulder injury for quite a few months, so want to build slowly to see how that goes.

Get onto the powerlifting after some Qs from big Davie.

Moving to a new office in September, so will be 1min from the pool/gym. Need to get a membership sorted.

Need new running shoes and headphones.

Already sorted out Garmin>Strava automagically. now need to decide if want to keep nike+, dailymile etc as too must distraction.

Kids are bigger now, so evening training is no probs.

BSLT 2012 Triathlon Series - Eyemouth Triathlon

Ok, so today I decided to take the plunge and join Kenney. I have now officially entered the Eyemouth Sprint Triathlon. It will be my first Triathlon.

As a kid we went to Eyemouth caravan park a few years, and I have some great memories there. A friend of the family who also went there liked it so much, they decided to uproot and move there. They still live there today.

So Kenney did Eyemouth last year, so that is kinda his benchmark triathlon - so thats another reason to select there.

I can bike and run.... swimming not so much. So I went for a test swim to see just where I am with it. Discovered I am nowhere with it. So I guess I should sort that out. Trying to decide if I should take lessons or just get some pool time sorted.

January Training Overview

OK, January has flashed past, and I'm having a quick look through my list of activity from the Garmin site for the whole month.

Garmin Forerunner 305 Won't Switch On

Quite a few of the books and training plans I have ask for your resting heart rate.... and I have never found out what mine is. Apparently the best time to check is when you wake up, and before you do anything at all.

Eurocentral 5k Loop Day 2

Day 3 of running training (day 2 of Loop with KH), joined by Kenney Harris and Derek Webster.

Eurocentral 5k Loop

Day 2 of running training, joined by Kenney Harris. Both of us are looking to get into better shape to tackle a triathlon or two this year.

This is a loop I have ran quite a few times, reasonably flat and very boring. Just over 3 loops 2 loops is 5km, perfect. Eventually we will use this for tempo runs, but at the moment it just a fitness builder.

Brief History Overview

I Remember The Days...
I like to think that I was very fit as a teenager, from the age of 14 I got up and ran for hours in the morning delivering milk. From 4am-8am. Goodness knows how many miles I clocked up, but I could run and run..... but it didn't bother me much, I certainly didn't consider myself as a 'runner'. The positive affect on my health never crossed my mind, I was just delivering milk to make some cash.

This is me blog. #CarryOn
